A Manchester Road Primary Academy Blog

A short but full first week.

A very short but full first week back. The children seem to have had a lovely time during the Christmas holidays and it has been lovely hearing all their stories about what Santa brought them and what they did in the time off.

In maths, we have been adding using partitioning and partitioning number using our knowledge of place value. Next week we will be moving on to subtracting using partitioning.

We began our new topic this week – DROYLSDEN DETECTIVES! We will be looking at our town in the past and present and going on a local walk to investigate what is in our area. Any information you can give the children on what Droylsden was like in the past and what you might know about it will be greatly appreciated. If anyone would like to come in and talk to the children, that would also be welcomed.

In science with Mr Lally, the children will be studying forces and magnets.

Attendance is still below the national average in our class and after Christmas, we were the only class not to move our attendance pencil in the whole school attendance award scheme. Please make sure your child is in school every day. They miss out on such a lot when they are absent.

READING – reading is one of the most important and beneficial things that you can do with your child. P:ease endeavour to read with them for at least ten minutes every night.

We have had a great start to the new term and we have a lot of hard work ahead of us. I’m excited to see how much progress the children will make this half  term.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Abela.
